Watch Dawn of the Dead (1978) Partial Japanese TV Broadcast:
This is a VHS recording of a Japanese TV broadcast with introduction that aired in Japan in October 1980. This release uses music from Susperia as the soundtrack, is dubbed in Japanese, has an exploding intro, a typed background on what caused the dead to reanimate and includes a Japanese TV host introducing and discussing the movie.
At the time, the post-production staff ordered a tape of the M&E track from the rights agency to make a Japanese dubbing for the film. The sound quality was so poor that it couldn't be used in its entirety for broadcast. Therefore, the production crew appropriated another film's soundtrack, and all the sound effects were reworked.
Also, gore scenes were drastically cut out and the dialogue was altered, which led to a flood of complaints from fans after the show. Therefore, two years later in July 1982, the soundtrack was replaced with the normal soundtrack and aired again.
