Bad Candy is a 2020 American anthology horror film written & directed by Scott B. Hansen and Desiree Connell, Thacker Hoffman wrote a short story. It stars Zach Galligan, Derek Russo, and Corey Taylor.
SYNOPSIS: On Halloween night in New Salem, Radio DJs Chilly Billy (Corey Taylor) and Paul (Zach Galligan) tell a twisted anthology of terrifying local myths of the supernatural on the annual Psychotronic FM Halloween show. In this small town it's a grimy ending for most, but will a few good souls survive?
TRIVIA: The movie is named after the supernatural devil horned killer clown, called Bad Candy, who appears in several of the stories. Chilly Billy is played by musician Corey Taylor who is also the lead singer of the band Slipknot. Chilly Billy announces his radio station, 66.6 FM. FM frequencies range from 88 to 108 megahertz. Anything in the 66 frequency range, would be transmitting on television band, rather than FM. Derek Russo's character has a werewolf costume in the movie and also plays a werewolf in the Creepshow TV show episode "A Creepshow Holiday Special: Shapeshifters Anonymous".
FESTIVAL/THEATRICAL/VOD/BLU-RAY RELEASE: Bad Candy premiered at the Grimmfest International Festival of Fantastic Film in Manchester, on October 31, 2020. It later screened at the SouthSide Film Festival in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in June 2021. The film is distributed by Dread, and received a limited theatrical release on September 10, 2021. It was released on video-on-demand on September 14, and on Blu-ray on September 28.
MY REVIEW: Decent effects (awesome demon monster) for a low budget film and full of great Halloween atmosphere but some of the stories and acting had me cringing more than I was enjoying it. If you looking to watch a Halloween horror movie that has the look of Tales of Halloween (2015) or Trick 'r Treat (2007) but just isn't as good, this is better than most of the films on this blog.
