Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a 2019 horror film directed by André Øvredal, based on the children's book series of the same name by Alvin Schwartz. The screenplay was adapted by Dan and Kevin Hageman, from a screen story by producer Guillermo del Toro, as well as Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The film, an international co-production of the United States and Canada, stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Zajur, Natalie Ganzhorn, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, and Lorraine Toussaint.
SYNOPSIS: It's Halloween 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time-stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying tomb.
BOX OFFICE/DVD/BLU-RAY/4KUHD RELEASE: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was theatrically released in the United States on August 9, 2019, by CBS Films via Lionsgate and grossed $68.9 million in the United States and Canada, and $35.6 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $104.5 million. The film was released in the US on digital download by Lionsgate Home Entertainment on October 22, 2019 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 5.

This looks like a good one for this Halloween Season.
ReplyDeleteYeah I enjoyed watching, but only the beginning takes place on Halloween night, most of the film takes place after. SPOILER ALERT: I wish they would have explained more about what happened to the kids in the story, did they really die or not? But the ending is just a build up for a sequel, a sequel that I don't think is happening.
